Project Overview

Help monitor and enforce pollutant limits and improve air quality, particularly in cities. To achieve this goal, CARES will complement existing commercially available remote emission sensing instruments with two additional non-intrusive, non-contact methods for measuring vehicle emissions in the real world to significantly expand current measurement capabilities.

Project Results

The project is ongoing. The results are for the moment the implementation of the first measures in the field. The cities of Krakow, Milan and Prague – are being used to develop best practices and demonstrate the practical potential of different remote sensing techniques for emissions. Through the CARES city exchange network, the project will actively collaborate with experts in China and Europe, as well as with a range of stakeholders from the regulatory and industrial communities. The aim is to enable cities to adapt to new climate and pollution challenges.
