FORESTFIRE – Forest fires and nature – raising the awareness of rural communities concerning forest fire prevention
Project Overview
The FORESTFIRE project aimed to reduce the risk of forest fires caused by human activity, by raising awareness of forest fire prevention among rural residents and people using forests for recreational purposes. This aim was to be achieved through the implementation of a regional media campaign, the production and distribution of information addressed at specific target subgroups, and the preparation and running of forest fire prevention training courses. This Project was followed by the Forest Fire II Project
Project Results
1) Compilation of an essential report on the scope and dissemination methods of information about forest fires and counteraction against their appearance; 2) identification of the target group and supporting entities; 3) compilation of the Visual Identification Book; 4) creation of the webpage www.swiadomizagrozenia.pl ; 5) Production of 5 TV and 5 radio spots.; 6) Report from the public opinion poll CATI part I; 7) 5 full-page press articles and 3 full-page press announcements for regional daily papers; 8) 3 sponsored public announcements and 5 sponsored articles in two regional daily papers: 40 publications of articles and 24 publications of announcements; 9) documentary (52 min) – „Lethal fire”; 10) production of 2 educational films (26 min) – „Flaming Inferno” and „Enjoy the forest safely”; 11) 50 000 DVD films and informative materials; 12) 8 training workshops for secondary school teachers at which 400 people were trained; 13) 8 training workshops for representatives of volunteer fire brigades at which 240 people were trained; 14) production of 800 information tables placed at key points on areas covered by the campaign; 15) organisation of 4 contests for secondary schools
