Project Overview

The FORGER project aims at integrating and extending existing knowledge to provide science-based recommendations on the management and sustainable use of FGR for EU-policy makers, national stakeholders, forest managers, and managers of natural areas.

Project Results

The project results, especially maps and gap analyses, will help countries to identify areas where they should establish new gene conservation units for forest trees. The integrated databases and the new monitoring protocol to measure genetic diversity will allow a better characterization and monitoring of genetic diversity and genes conserved within these units.
