Project Overview

The aim of the project is to be able to anticipate the risk of fire via an independent system based on optics and thermics.

THEASIS will reduce to a minimum the delay between the start and detection of a fire, as well as false alarms, thus improving the speed of response in the event of a fire. A considerable number of joint training activities will be carried out and a business plan will be developed to implement the system in high-risk forest fire areas. The SFEDA contributes to the homogenisation of forest protection policies in the BalkanMed countries. Regional authorities will benefit from the exchange of knowledge and experience. THEASIS can be adapted to each forest, in order to prevent the loss of flora and fauna and to reduce the risks to humans.

Project Results

The main results can be seen on the project’s facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/SFEDAproject/.

The project resulted in the development of an aerial tool for observing forests and thus forecasting fires. This tool is now presented for subsequent dissemination.

The University of Ruse is still experimenting with the detection tool in 2020 on different scales for smoke detection for example. The tool looks like a drone.

The partners of the project meet with the actors in order to raise awareness and present the tool.
