Thanks to the sharing of knowledge between the French and Swiss partners, the project consists in developing an innovative solution for the treatment and purification of water, based on wood waste and by-products.

The reprocessing of these elements makes it possible to produce a form of natural activated carbon, biochar, capable of depolluting water by fixing micropollutants.

The development of the biochar production chain therefore has a twofold advantage: first, it valorizes the waste from the local forest industry, which will see its competitiveness increased thanks to new economic opportunities; it also offers an ecological solution for water treatment, thanks to the elimination of compounds such as drug residues, currently poorly or not treated in conventional purification processes. Technical, economic and ecological studies will make it possible to develop this innovative solution efficiently on the territory.
